About Us

Earthworks Garden Design is a mother-daughter team based in Santa Barbara with a combined 35 years of experience. Both Gudrun (mother) and Jessica (daughter) have a background in the arts and approach design from an artist's perspective, seeing the garden as a painter's canvas and considering form, line, texture, color, movement, balance and flow.

Earthworks has designed gardens large and small in Montecito, Santa Barbara, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Ventura and Santa Ynez.

Their gardens have been seen in Architectural Digest. They have also designed part of Seaside Gardens Nursery demonstration garden in Carpinteria, California.
